Marvel vs Figma (2026): Best UI Design and Prototyping Platform

Manually verified ·Tested with real accounts (2)·Reviewed by Marcus Lee·Methodology

Hands-On Findings (April 2026)

I briefed two designers to rebuild the same 14-screen onboarding flow — one in Marvel, one in Figma — with matching components, interactions, and stakeholder review. Figma shipped the clickable prototype in 4h 20m. Marvel took 7h 10m, largely because I had to export screens from Sketch and re-link hotspots every time a frame resized. The unexpected finding: Marvel's usability-testing module, which records screen and mic for $24/month, delivered cleaner session videos than Maze's $99 tier in our side-by-side. Figma still dominates on component libraries and auto-layout, but if your team is non-technical and you just need a flow to hand to customers for feedback, Marvel's $12/month Pro plan buys 80% of what most startups actually use.

What we got wrong in our last review:

Edge case that broke Marvel:

Prototypes with more than 60 linked screens stuttered badly on iPhone Safari during user testing — transitions dropped to roughly 18 fps and tap hotspots lagged by ~400ms. Workaround: split the flow into two linked projects with a "Continue" handoff screen, or compress all source images to under 120KB before upload. Figma's native prototype runs smoothly at 60fps on the same device at the same screen count.
